‘recognises that a long-term solution will require a major societal shift away from a reliance on fossil fuels for heating and electricity; expresses its dismay at the ongoing lack of support for households to undertake energy efficiency improvements, such as insulation, and for installing microgeneration, leaving households more vulnerable to global increases in the price of such fossil fuels; and calls on the Minister of Finance, the Minister for the Economy and the Minister for Communities to work together to create a Green Investment Plan, to provide support for green investments such as installing household microgeneration capacity, low carbon heating solutions and improving energy efficiency, to accelerate the wider move away from fossil fuels and, in the short term, to develop urgently a means-tested winter energy emergency fund to help those in need with energy costs.’ |
